When does anyone ever pledge allegiance to the state flag anyway?

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas Flag is said daily in some public schools in Texas. So to answer the obvious question, "Who is this bill aimed at?" the young impressionable students in Texas public schools. Like others, this bill is both unnecessary and violative of the US Constitutional separation of church from state. Like the federal Pledge, it would be marred and invalidated to millions of people if tainted with this kind of ugly evangelical religion. We don't all want to live UNDER someone else's fantasies. That is un-American. Keep religion totally out of government, and this issue doesn't need to come up. Yet here we are. Joe Zamecki Austin

Where exactly in the Constitution is the separation of church and state stated?
