HB-129 would end blogging as we know it

Summary

HB 129 explicitly codifies that Libel laws apply to the internet, allows for a remedy requiring removal of libelous material from the web.

Athough HB 129 codifies libel laws apply to the internet, it does not change the Civil Practices & Remedies Code to indicate that the defenses in that code also apply to the internet.

Political Commentary

Rep. Truitt has indicated she will file a more narrowly worded substitute in January, aimed giving people legal recourse if someone knowingly publishes information about them online that could lead to identity theft./Star Telgram Article/
