Summary

Provides for an outreach campaign aimed at reducing the number of unintended pregnancies and lower the rates of sexually transmitted diseases.

This bill also informs parents whether or not their children's sex education will cover information on contraception and condom use. Texas does not require schools cover these topics.

This bill has been branded a Prevention First bill.

Background

This bill is framed as an effort to reduce abortions by preventing unwanted pregnancies. Nearly half of all pregnancies in the United States are unintended, and nearly half of unintended pregnancies end in abortion.//2//
