Don't get stuck at $6

Better lanuage would provide the federal level as a minimum, so when the feds go to $6.65 next year, Texas isn't left behind at $6 for non-federally covered jobs. Regardless of the starting level (and $6 would be considered inadequate by many,) language indexing the state minimum would prevent the lege from having to revisit this issue in the future.

Summary



Rep. Guillen's bill will increase the minimum wage to $6. The wage would no longer be indexed to the federal minimum wage.
