Summary

Makes it a misdemeanor to use, in an advertisement for a commercial purpose, the name of an individual who is an active duty or former member of the United States Armed Forces or a picture of the individual in uniform, without obtaining the consent of the person or their heirs.

Background

This bill is aimed at preventing sales of T-Shirts listing the names of the fallen American Soldiers in Iraq. Similar legislation has passed in OK and LA./1/
