Summary

Directs the Employees Retirement System of Texas and the Teacher Retirement System of Texas not to invest in the Republic of Sudan.

Background

Sudan's actions in the Darfur Genocide, have led 6 states (California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, New Jersey and Oregon) to pass legislation disinvesting in that area. Litigation against the Illinois Statute is underway.
