Summary

This bill limits the "10 percent admissions" rule at 40 percent of a university's total enrollment.

Background

HB 788 /75-R/ created the "10% rule" guarenteeing admission to state funded universities for students that graduate in the top 10% of their class. As admission under this provision has grown, controvisal suggestions to cap admissions under the 10% rule have been made by various parties, including former University of Texas at Austin president Larry Faulkner.
