The Daily Texan reports that Branch's intention with this language is to stem the tide of rising student credit card debt./1/

Detail

HB 85:
* Prohibits the use of "giveaways" to encourage students to submit credit card applications,
* Limits credit card marketing to one designated location per campus, and
* Requires the credit card company to prove it has provide credit education to a student prior to extending credit.
