Summary

Allows individuals unemployed because of a lock out by their employers to collect unemployment.

Background

Currently, individuals cannot receive unemployment benefits if the unemployment is related to a labor dispute.

Political Context

Similar language was filed in 2005. The senate bill never got a hearing, while the house bill died in Calendars. In the house committee hearing in the 79th, labor testified in favor of the language and the Texas Association of Business testified against the language./1/
