HB 1736 increases the compensation for wrongfully convicted persons from $50,000 / per year of conviction to $80,000 / per year.  The bill also provides health insurance and up to 120 credits of higher education for exonerees.

The House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee considered the bill on April 9, 2009.  All but two members supported the bill.  Rep. Christian and Rep. Fletcher voted against the measure.
