Summary

Candidates filing for statewide or national office should be required to sign a statement agreeing to participate in at least one debate against an opponent from the opposition party during the general election campaign.

Background

"Safe" incumbents have taken to refusing to debate opponents, leaving voters without first-hand witness to their choices come election day. This can be remedied through legislative action.
