Background
The State Minimum wage applies to some workers who are not covered by the federal minimum wage.
The 77th Legislature pegged the Texas Minimum Wage at the level of federal minimum wage level. The federal minimum wage has not been raised since it was set at $5.15 per hour in 1997. Legislation is pending at the federal level. (see

HB193 - Increases to $6.00
HB262 - Increases in two steps to $7.00
SB95 - Increases in two steps to $7.00
HB451 - Increases in two steps to 7.15, and indexes thereafter, with the federal minimum as a floor.
HB936 - Indexes the state minimum by inflation.
