Summary

After the mid-decade re-districting lawsuits and rancour, many have proposed reforming the redistricting process in Texas

Political Background

Restricting reform has been proposed in previous sessions (e.g. SB1404(79R)), but has not been passed by the Texas legislature.

Bills filed include:
HJR22 - establishing the Texas Redistricting Commission
HJR31 - Redistricting only once per decade
HB112 - Relating to the Texas Redistricting Commission if the constitutional changes in HJR22 pass
